Time for some news!

There is LOTS of news to be had… I will get to that later. Probably tomorrow night when Joel is gone to work.

In this episode I will tell you about the new tea I bought on our recent trip to Banff. We stayed at the Brewster’s Mountain Lodge, cute little hotel in downtown Banff. It has lovely handcrafted log furnishings in every room.

Anyway, when you stay at Brewster’s you get a 10% discount at Banff Tea Co.

Needless to say I HAD to pay them a visit. Its this adorable little shop just a few doors down from the hotel entrance. Its tiny, but it is so cute. The service was also great!

TONS of different loose leaf teas and all the accessories you could need. Each tea was stored in a big jar in its own individual little cubby. Every kind of tea had a little tin of the tea leaves out so you could have a sniff. “Smelling is believing…” is what their site says and its true. They have some amazing smelling teas!

I purchased myself 50 grams of Wild Strawberry tea, and 50 grams of Chocolate Mint Rooibos. I was told that 50 grams should be enough for about 25 cups at 1 teaspooon per cup. Before my 10% discount the total came to $10. Thats pretty darn cheap as teas go! My starbucks Tazo Teas are like $10 for 24 bags. So its signifigantly cheaper.

I’m just having a cup of the Wild Strawberry right now and its awesome! Its not quite as strong of a flavour as you would expect from the dry scent, but its lovely. Its slightly fruity with the teeniest bit of acidity like fresh picked strawberries have. It smells lovely in the cup. A little more subtle and laidback than the dry scent. Its slightly less sweet smelling in the cup. Its from the Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula and Uva regions of Sri Lanka.

So far I’m enjoying it!

Anyway, I’m off to enjoy the last few awake hours with Joel before he heads off to work in the morning!
